Who are Team Kigali 2014?

We are a group of eight volunteers working with the government funded scheme ICS - International Citizenship Service -  and the charity Tearfund. We are made up of four ICVs (in country volunteers) and four UKVs (UK volunteers). Together we are spending ten weeks in Rwanda to try and tackle global poverty and restore hope.

A little bit about what we are doing...

"ICS offers 18 to 25-year-olds a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience international development work as part of a properly structured, government funded programme.
This is not a holiday and the conditions are usually basic. But it's a chance to immerse yourself in another culture, to challenge yourself, to build your confidence and to gain valuable life experience in areas potential employers take seriously.
Plus you'll know that you're making a difference in ways that are both meaningful and sustainable.
ICS is made up of a consortium of seven partners, and within the Tearfund ICS programme we have a Christian distinctiveness that covers everything we do.
On a Tearfund ICS placement you will work closely with the local church, participate in devotions within your team and enjoy a chance to grow closer to God and develop your faith as you spend time with faith based organisations."
